The College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad discussed the doctoral thesis entitled “The effectiveness of the intervention based on the change model across theories in treating psychological distress among sixth preparatory students: A Randomized Controlled Trial” by Huda Aboud Sawadi, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Iman Hussein Alwan in the college’s Great HallThe study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the intervention based on the trans-theoretical change model in managing psychological distress among middle school students, through a randomized controlled trial to ensure the accuracy of the results
The results of the study showed a significant and sustained decrease in the levels of academic psychological distress for students in the intervention group over time, with a statistically significant difference
The thesis showed that the applied intervention was effective in pushing the participants to higher stages of the change model for managing psychological distress effectively reducing the level of academic stress and enabling the participants to use the change processes as more effective mechanisms for managing academic stress and pressure. The researcher received a very good grade for her thesis
